There exist genetically modified e. Coli organisms which consume carbohydrates and excrete a substance which is indistinguishable from gasoline. If scientists were able to develop such organisms, I see no reason why similar ones could not exist in nature. The same relates to natural gas. Some day, not in the very distant future, we will be feeding our dinner leftovers to a bunch of bacteria living in a special apparatus in our garages - and in return receive a gallon or two of gasoline for the morning's ride to work.

The atmospheres of Uranus and Neptune contain significant amounts of methane (natural gas). I don't believe anyone is suggesting biological origins, so it would appear that gas can be created by other mechanisms.
