The NYT and Nightline stories, and Daisey's "art" each work for Apple and squeeze the other companies that contract out manufacturing to Foxconn and others in China. If it were not favorable, wouldn't Apple lawyers have made a fuss? They did spell 'Jobs' right.

Apple can afford the 25¢ an hour wage increases better than Dell or Hewlett Packard or HTC or Motorola or Nokia ... and almost anyone including Samsung (if they manufacture in China), all of whom now have to raise wages, too. And, the push to upward mobility in China is extremely favorable to Apple. If Steve Jobs had planned this, ... Apple's strategy can be characterized by all these things simultaneously:

favorable for Apple
not favorable for anti-Apple media
squeezes margins for competition or forces them to raise prices (see $850 competitor top of the line phone)
accelerates the growth of the Chinese market by increasing disposable income in China, and
puts manufacturing close to its eventual largest single country-market.

That's what Tim Cook and Apple put in place.
