Because Romney has been at times a businessman and at times a politician, at times a pragmatist and at times an ideologue, it’s hard to know exactly who would be taking office as president if he were nominated and elected. Not that it matters. Because both Romneys would have let the U.S. auto industry go down the tubes. If Romney wants to run as an economic heavyweight, he should stand by his record, and voters should decide just how valid a claim that is.
