even INTCs chips are basically a commodity. what has set INTC apart from the others is branding and a great marketing campaign. TI isnt doing much of that, at least not on the scale of INTC.

pricing to maintain marketshare is useless when your competition can beat you on costs. my point was not that TI would be crushed, just that there would be some rough times ahead. while they will, in all likelyhood, maintain their position, profits they have enjoyed (and which have driven the stock up) may start to shrink. IMHO, TXN investors shoudl keep a very wary eye on margins.
