Do you realize NYC was the greatest city on the planet in the 1950's even though a huge majority were poor less educated working class usually first and second generation immigrants? By 1975 too much of it had become a cesspool of drugs, crime, poverty, welfare, food stamps, government housing and racial division. What changed? As much as I always blast the GOP for Reaganomics on steroids the past 30+ years there is much more to the story of how we got to this point..

Whom do you blame for NYC becoming a cesspool by the 1970s?

Free preschool, and community colleges in the "hood" is the best thing we could ever do to help poverty and crime in the hood.

The hood, is the hood, is the hood. Nothing has changed. People are the same. All of the problems in the "hood" can be traced to a lack of education. Educate the hoodies and watch the problems disappear.
