Kevin, definitely last round: but there are plenty of things that I have never done, and I have never considered doing, but won't hold it against others if they do so. "I wouldn't do it the way he does it" is not sufficient cause for denigrating someone as a moron.

Peace! You two...

You both have valid points. There are plenty of people who will rush into the market to chase opportunity, who have no business risking their hard-earned excess capital, and there's also documented stories of situations like the school janitor who leaves a 7 digit endowment to the school where he worked all his life.

The situation that I see is that barriers to learn about the market and risk in general are coming down, isn't this website a case in point ? So what are the current and future impacts on those markets ?

Is there something to be said for a world population gravitating towards a more worldly and informed posture able to more quickly access, digest, and react to events of the world ? I read this as a long term bullish case. Also if the sins of the 80s Japanese bubble are to be atoned within the forseeable future, is that not also a intermediate to long term bullish case ? How bad will the short term medicine be ? In the short term, I think I see an indication of flight to quality here in US markets, perhaps the corner has been turned, for negative reasons perhaps, but if things resolve themselves in Asia without bringing the US markets to their knees, could it be the old bull will relaunch to even further heights come January ?
