LOL - It should have been retained somewhere to use to pay to those who were paying it in, don't you agree?

I've been paying in to SS for approximately 45 years ... and won't even start to collect for another 2 or even 5. The system could well be 'exhausted (Broke!) before I have collected even a fraction of what I paid in. Shouldn't my payments have been saved and guarded in some fashion to ensure I would receive something back for at least a few years?

I don't care what it is called, but the problems started a long time before Al Gore came along in politics.

EDIT - BTW, I believe the info in your linked article is wrong ... but I do believe it was illegal to use SS funds for any other reason, until a democrat controlled congress approved a bill that allowed such 'withdrawls', which a democrat president signed. I could be wrong, and I will check it further .. but I believe that is correct.
