Actually, in my lifetime, it was entirely possible for almost anyone to borrow money to go to college, work part time throughout, and become a millionaire. If you are disciplined enough and save a good chunk of your earnings for the 45 years of your worklife after college, it's pretty easy to become a millionaire. It's easier if you have a white collar job, but it can be done with a union blue collar job.

That's bull. I don't know what happened in your life time but in my lifetime, I started out poor, worked hard and at one time may have been a millionaire on paper but life has too many pitfalls.......too many setbacks..........even in the land of the free and the brave. Now had I cheated my way........I would be in a much better place but I played it straight. And then there are friends who came from well off families...............they are close to being millionaires.........and they may be by the time they are ready to retire.........but even with that starting advantage, it hasn't been clear sailing for them.

Frankly, I think the horatio alger story is mostly crap.
