I didn't define it........Horatio Alger did.....rags to riches..........and its been promoted in American schools and sold to the world ever since. You remind me of my best friend's (from high school) mother... a liberal. We argued current events all the time. But, she ridiculed my hard work ethics and relentless ambition to make money. She shaped her son, my friend, such that he never had ambition. The reason was if you never set the bar too high, then you will never fail. Trust. My work ethic is probably twice yours........or did you think the work ethic is an exclusive trait of conservatives. Let me remind you some of the most successful people in this country are liberals.......... and its come from working hard. My life has been to set the bar too high and to repeatedly fail... and occasionally succeed. I am absolutely an anathema to liberals who preach "don't try, you won't succeed". Look. One thing I've learned about conservatives over the years is that you all are so narcissistic and so lack empathy that you have no idea how you come off. While there are never any guarantees, my experience has shown me that people who work hard at an early age do much better than average. That's probably true. I have been working since I was 12 and I have done just fine.
