If that was on NBR, it was Abhey Lamba, a Senior Technology Analyst from Mizuho, maybe because NBR couldn't find anyone else more credible to say anything good or even neutral about HP or Meg Whitman. The whole world knows that HP tried to charge too much for ink, so they opened the door for other firms and other-sourced ink. The HP printer line is a confusing mess, from my POV.

The former EDS faces tough competition in services, now not just from IBM and Accenture, but Xerox and Dell and more. It was a no win position to comment on HP, and the smart ones turned NBR down.

Mizuho has a neutral rating on HPQ.

If tablets volume overtakes PC volume, HP has a problem.

And on the R&D commentary here, many companies spend 90% of the total on the Development side. Unless you know how much was actually spent on Research, you can't simply compare what's on the Income Statement line for R&D.
