Licensing arrangements only increase costs for licensees. Iomega's costs will always be as low as Zip disk manufacturing costs can be. Iomega will therefore be able to reduce media prices more easily than licensees would. Street prices for Zip disks have already come down, and will continue to do so.

And Fuji is making a ton of money manufacturing Zip disks. They're not going to give up a sure thing just because they have a chance of making money with something else.
