Zimmerman's race is immaterial. Besides, there is no love lost between blacks and Latinos I agree on both counts but this never would have made these headlines if it was initially presented as anything but racist white on black hate crime. I guess that doesn't mean much to me because I knew he was Latino from his first photo...........no matter how they were describing him. I also think that his vigilante behavior fuels this as much as anything else. The cops asked him to back away.........and he chose not to. If he had, the kid would be alive today. In addition, members of the condo project who speak highly of Zimmerman were shocked when they found out he was carrying a gun. That's what I object most to...............the arming of private citizens............that this law encourages. BTW my updates have come mostly from A. Cooper who has presented this story very carefully IMO. I agree Zimmerman was a vigilante nut with a history, hoping to become a cop with a father who served in the military and seems he was the aggressor with an axe to grind living near a transitional area with lots of crime by mostly wayward young black males.. Sanford among the most notorious ghettos in metro Orlando. Meanwhile neighboring Lake Mary and Heathrow, a bit closer to where this community actually is I would classify as a yuppy suburb actually quite nice on par with Thousand Oaks area of CA.. Being in a Lake Mary school district versus on the 'wrong' side of the the street in a Sanford district increases your home values perhaps 30% + Is it really ghetto? Isn't it where the airport is?
