Thanks. Helpful information.

I'm interested in buying stocks of local banks involved in shale plays. I've not found any small or regional banks dealing primarily within the Bakken or Niobrara areas. I see now that WFC though, with its geographical diversity, has operations in several such areas. I hold a few shares of WFC. I regret I've not added more after only buying a very little for a tracking position last August. I'm considering adding more now -- although I feel I'm very late. On the one hand, the company/stock should do okay over the next five years (my estimated holding period). Otoh, the stock's already up, and in a market correction this year, it may fall back again to provide a good or better buying opp.

Fwiw, for the Eagle Ford shale and infrastructure, I recently did step up to buy a few shares of Cullen-Frost for a tracking position. CFR has no branch operations outside of Texas, so it should be a direct beneficiary of improving oil and gas business in Texas.

I don't claim either of these stocks is a value at their current prices and metrics.
