Did you see Zimmerman's picture .? Not exactly a poster boy for working out and healthy eating, was he? Through the years ..... I've had occasion to 'restrain' more than a few people. I've had several occasions to restrain young, athletic guys, and to restrain guys who have outweighed me by well over 100 pounds. Give me a choice, and I'll take a scuffle with a big guy any time. Anytime! Those young athletes can definitely put a hurtin' on ya. Quick, wirey, supple ... yes sir, give me the big dudes anytime .... once you get 'em started, they are going to the ground .... I don't know your history, of course, so don't know your experience at trying to out-brawl someone. But, it was always the young, in shape guys who gave me the hardest time, once the 'fight was on'. It has been reported Zimmerman had turned around and was going back to his vehicle when Martin jumped him from behind. One of the worst possible scenarios in which to defend oneself, for sure. Ever been jumped from behind? Anyone who knows even halfway what they're doing will throw a choke on ya and you'll be on the ground, fighting for your breath, indeed your life, in about 8 - 10 seconds. I was in my 40s, and early 50s, when I was doing this, after I had retired from the military service. Does that mean that when I had to confront a young guy, that I automatically would dominate any sort of personal combat? If you think it does ....you need to think again. No sir, if you are going to use nothing but age and size to make a judgement in this case, then I honestly think you are completely unversed in what it takes to win this sort of encounter. Wait until the facts are in before you make a judgement. You, of all people should know that. How would you approach it if you were hired as Zimmerman's attorney? Don't deprive anyone - ANYONE - of a fair hearing based on the facts. I believe that is the general gist of our legal system ... in every case. And just so you know, the worst I was ever injured in one of these man-to-man, hand-to-hand situations, it was by a young lady (on crack) after I let my guard down, thinking there was nothing this little gal could possibly do to get the best of me. Oh, what a stupid thing to do. Very stupid.
