One-percenter, fair-share, poverty of ambition

Listen, I'm not against rich people.. I'm just questioning why so many people are falling out of the middle class while a smaller minority are becoming increasingly wealthy?

This is just not economically or socially sustainable.

Nor do I believe that gov't can create wealth.. Only entrepreneurial private enterprise can do that.

But I DO BELIEVE that gov't can play a role in longer term R&D and infrastructure where the private sector lacks the risk appetite to invest (primarily because they are focused on short term returns).

And I believe that this is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, despite all the attempts to make it for the monopolist corporations.

Capitalism is a economic tool, not a religion. It should be harnessed for the betterment of the citizenry. But's it's anti-democratic and economically predatory and manipulative nature should be restrained by rule of law and regulation.

This country is about creating a better future for its people.. individuals with unalienable rights bestowed by their creator. It is not about maximizing profit and creating debt and wage slaves. It's about creating opportunity and helping people to help themselves.. a hand up, not a hand out.

I'm flexible about how we achieve that goal, and not killing the goose that lays the golden egg. But we must put the people first ahead of protecting and subsidizing corporations (and the greedy individuals who manage and own them). To fail to do so will destroy our country and turn it into a corporatocracy.
