I couldn't believe I was hearing that on a financial advice show.


I listen to him occasionally.
I agree with Ramsey and would add seeds to the list.

The average American grocery store stocks about a 3-4 day inventory of staples. Most American city dwellers don't know what an edible plant looks like.

That time frame drops to about six hours when a hurricane is forecast. The shelves also got stripped bare on 9/11.

Out here in the country the most desirable food item right now and the one we are all stocking up on is canning jars.

What happens and where do city dwellers go for food in a bigger emergency or a wider and longer shortage, when they can't buy food for their wife and kids at the grocery store they are addicted to?
