Why is it that when ever a foreign company seems to be selling their product at lower prices than the competing American company we hear the reason to be subsidization of the foreign company by their governments....??
But, on the other hand, we have people on these threads screaming that US companies get no subsidies here even though, for example, we know that oil companies do....(and probably many others)

I don't doubt that the Japanese government gives a lot of favors and assistance to Toyota, but to argue that Toyota would not exist as a car company without said assistance and favors requires proof on your part.

Toyota was bailed in 1949 by the japanese government, soon after they kicked out GM and Ford....and got government backing during the recent financial crisis, as did other japanese manufacturers, all of which had, BTW, been the beneficiaries of decades of protectionist policies ...

And yet the American electronics industry is competing just fine, even in the face of heavily subsidized competition from Asia.

Really? Are you too young to remember the 1980s debate about Japanese dumping in the US and how much assistance MITI provided to japanese industry....more recent news...
