This weekend finds the all time Box office records being challenged for an opening film that's caught fire with the youth called "Hunger Games" already doing $155mil its first 3days and big boon for for Lions Gate that also owns production rights to the Twilight Saga vampire flix . Hunger Games is another one of those dystopian tales that's set in sort of the same medieval setting of serfdom , of a future North America divided into 12 districts that's fallen into more primitive state ruled over by the controlling ruling class of the "Capitol" . For punishment of an earlier rebellion the Capitol demands yearly human tribute that two elected youth are sent to fight in games that are to entertain as well as politically intimidate , to the death. Last five years this has become runaway best seller with kids like Orwells 1984 & huge deal for Lions Gate stock that already raked in over a Billion with Mormon housewife Stephanie Meyers vampire series . (Like occasional mispelling sometimes as inadvertantly wrote "peerception" in that post ! ) The first pop came in jan after release of Twilight 2nd to last installment , this 2nd pop to $16 came with anticipation of Hunger Games that shorts were hoping not do over $130mil but that got blown away by $55mil so monday should be fun , I'm back in long now on dip to $14 . How funny it is that human beings who pride themselves on being so modern & here we are indulging in fantasies just like before with witches & evil spirits etc . Not that advanced as we think , watch the future games play out . * will go short this again too after the pop but should get a mini squeeze tomorrow
