Oh I read a lot.. but the overwhelming theme as far as expansion was we are better despots of those poor not as good as us wretches.. I submit that is terribly racist.. kinder and gentler until push comes to shove.. I note that Victoria abhorred atrocities on both sides in India.. why were there ANY atrocities on the British side ? Some of the political cartoons of the age were cute.. seems her popularity always rose with each new assassination attempt.. not that the later ones were with basically unloaded weapons in a few cases :O) PR stunts ?
