I heard this audio the other day and it sounds pretty clear. OTOH, his attorney first came out with the response that the word was "goons". But when you listen to the enhanced audio the hard c sound is pretty unmistakeable.

Just as in the OJ case in regard to Fuhrman, I don't think it should influence anyone's view. Crap gets said all the time that doesn't allow one to infer racist intent.

FWIW.........I hear the distinctive P sound at the beginning of the word. I'd say Punk. I've never heard coon in real conversation.
