The United States started 2001 with a cozy nest egg of more than $2 trillion

Absolute bullsweet. In Jan 2001, the Federal debt was approximately $5.7T That is a rotten smelling nest egg.

Obama and the Dems blame Bush's policies, but never explain why they didn't change them during the 2 years that they controlled both the Senate and House. They were willing to ram Health care through, why not tax increases? Perhaps they were more concerned about re-election than doing what they now claim is necessary?

"Who's to Blame for America's Massive Debt? Bush policies account for $7T: Washington Post (Newser)

That article as typical of the Washington Post as one of the resident apologists for Obama, was notably long on opinion and short on fact.

Recent US Federal Deficit Numbers

Obama Deficits Bush Deficits
FY 2012: $1,327 billion FY 2009: $1,413 billion
FY 2011: $1,300 billion FY 2008: $459 billion
fY 2010: $1,293 billion FY 2007: $161 billion

I understand that in liberal school the Obama deficits are less than the Bush deficits, but in real school that is not so.

This chart shows total US spending during Bush's eight years increased from under 4 trillion to under 6 trillion. He

increased spending about 2 trillion per year over the full eight years of his term. Obama apppears to be on schedule to increase the budget about the same about 2 trillion.

Now when Bush took offic e in 2001, annual revenue was 3.5 Trillion dollars.over his 8 years in office income averaged 4.2 Trillion or .7 trillion more than when he came into office. During his last four years in office the income averaged 4.85 Trillion dollars more than 1 trillion dollars over the amount the government was collecting in the last years of Clintons term

These numbers clearly demonstrate that the problem was not caused by the decrease in taxes, which did in fact result in greater revenue. Rather the problem was that spending was outpacing the greater amount of revenue. I really don't expect you to acknowledge this despite your claim that you go by the facts and you love science, which includes mathematics
