He doesn't get that what is good and wholesome at the personal level just doesn't scale up properly to a national level. Things that make for a good society person to person makes for tyranny government to citizen.

And yea, I read his book to my kids. It's great.

I gave both his Book of Virtues to my kids for them and theirs. Good move.

That said Bennett has come to represent what I detest in the Republican Party. Busybodies who want to dictate rather than lead from moral suasion.

The way I feel. I'm not saying he had no value.

But just as the Democrats want to force us to do things we don't want to do (as in spending our money for things we don't want or need and can't afford), the Republicans want to control our personal lives by telling us we can't gamble or watch porn on the Internet, or that we can't smoke marijuana if that is our choice (it isn't mine), or whatever. I'm sick of all of 'em.
