Indeed, social media is playing a much bigger part in just about everything these days.

Good observations. I certainly agree with what you said.

It has come to the point where the media's goal is exposure rather than news reporting and legitimate commentary. That goal drives most of them to cross lines any respectable journalist of a couple of decades back just didn't cross.

I don't see any way today's media is a real asset to this country.
