RomneyCare then isn't any thing close to Obama care, No Matter that Obama says it is or not..... What they did was take the allocation from the Feds for Medicaid, and instead of giving the people the money, they gave them insurance.... I wonder if ANYONE has actually looked at the costs a hospital asserts are the actual prices they have to charge.....As far as I can see, the hospital costs need to be gone over with a very fine tooth comb. We give the airlines h*ll for buying a $400 o(or more) hammer, but it seems no one from outside the government has done this. Yes, the cost of nurses salaries and benefits have gone up. Yes, the hospitals have hired hospitalists for their staff, so a new cost along with the benefits. But WHY does it cost (in the large cities) $1,000/day or more for a room....to say nothing of the cost of intensive care. If hospitals can't purchase needed supplies in bulk, what entity can? Hospitals have a captive market. When one is really sick, or needs to have a medical procedure, they can't go to any number of hotels (that are priced competitively).....they have to go to the hospital. Why don't hospitals have a emergency clinic on their grounds....If, after Doctors office close, someone has stepped on a dog bone and has a puncture wound, they could go to the clinic, get a shot and be on their way. As it is now, there is no alternative after hours but to go to to the ER. Emergency Rooms of a hospital should be used for just that.....Emergencies. But today, way too many people use them for their own medical clinic.....and even worse, many don't have any insurance, and say they have no money, so the rest of us pay for their service.
