<<<<<. If the US has a "number one foe"- it's China- at least in terms of potential for harm, and potential for conflict,>>>>>

And yet many claim it is fine to borrow money from our "number one foe" to finance our deficit.

Russia is a Czarist relic running on oil fumes, and are only a potential threat to us now, based on the legacy investment by the old Soviet Union in nuclear weapons. Although the numbers have been greatly reduced from the Cold War heights, the Russians still can boast of having the most of any country in the world. How functional are they after 20 years of neglect? Who knows?

The right approach would be for BOTH Russia and ourselves to proceed to reduce the numbers of these weapons by continuing mutual agreements to destroy them. That isn't accomplished by Romney's rhetoric.

During the Cold War, the world contained over 80,000 nuclear weapons. It has been a great accomplishment for peace to whack that number down to where it is today.
