Robert,

I read what you wrote yesterday and thought it was one of the best pieces I'd seen written on SI. I don't mean I thought the content of your piece was the best, I mean the writing itself. The way you took what you thought and what you know and how you formed all of that into those beautifully interesting and clear sentences.

You didn't waste my time with useless words............I appreciate that in a writer. Most readers don't want fluff, they want the writer to perfectly weave the tale. They want the information and then they want the punch. After reading what you wrote, I actually said to myself...............Robert is a very good writer and I should tell him so.

I regret not saying anything yesterday, but I did give you a rec. I would have given you several recs if I could.

Keep writing.......................you have a gift.

;) M

As we age, is it possible to swap the addiction for something more socially acceptable, self satisfying, and productive?

Folks volunteer, run marathons, etc.

Exercise can create chemical changes in body and mind.

Volunteer organizations can occupy one's mind and time.

For example, a hobby I have is amateur astronomy, last week, I was looking at two different supernova and today that blows my mind more than any drug may have done in my youth.

I understand that one must have will and desire to change.

Beats the alternative imo.

(Add your personal disclaimer here.)

I'd like to second Neeka's comments. Good stuff, good writing. In that previous post, from the previous day (which I found and linked).... you read, and before you know you get a feel of what is happening inside that person. You like to write? Clearly, you have what it takes. If It makes you happy, why not, it's worth every effort.
