I think China's enlightened authoritarian capitalism model is the best way to make the transition they are making. True democracy would bring the inefficiencies of disagreements, argument and compromise. I think they'll build a middle class like we once had, that is also the main consumer of their production. Once that happens, they won't need us as badly, and the bill will come due for us.
