Education should be free, so this whole student loan shit pisses me off. Bush turned student loans over to the banks who charged 6% and the government backed the loans. Pure give away to the rich!!! they borrowed at 3% and loaned at 6% for nothing!!

Kids should be able to work their way through college. Tuitions should be free. They can work to eat or take out some small loans.

Student work programs of old were also the correct thing to do.

The light bulb went on for me when Gingrich pointed out that the Student Loan program has financed the runaway tuition rates. Before that I could never figure out why it was double the rate of inflation.

Easy credit also financed the massive housing bubble.. The GOP wants you up to your eyeballs in debt and spent the 'free' money as you see fit since you know better than the government. The Dems want giveaways, affirmative action, other social programs and costly red tape added in to spread it around further pushing up already high prices courtesy of the GOP to the stratosphere. . Lots of blame all around
