Comparing complaints to 1978 would be disastrous.

You don't have any data from the 70s.

If its unpleasant now that's largely because of regulation, specifically the security rules and regulations.

Other than that its no so bad. If I had flew in the 60s or 70s I might get a meal thrown in (rather than at extra cost, or not available at all), maybe there would be sexy looking stewardess, a free pillow, and such, but I'd be paying a lot more for the privilege. If I wanted a better experience and am willing and able to pay for it I could just get a business or 1st class seat. I'd rather save the money. If people in general wanted better service and more room, and where willing to pay a lot for the privilege it would be provided. People might grumble about some things now, but they would rather not pay an arm and a leg to get anywhere.

>>> .no one enjoys flying.

So, you think airlines are there for your enjoyment?

An industry that is chronically on the brink of bankruptcy and you're worried about your enjoyment?

Just be glad there is a way to get from NY to SFO in less than a few days.
