Didn't Texas get any oil money, Oklahoma, or any other state. What did they do with their money. Did they save any of it for kids? Actually they did, although not as much as Alaska. Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma all devote most or all oil and gas revenues to education. Recently U Texas passed Harvard for the largest University endowment, although Harvard passed the hat on Wall St and got the #1 spot back.

"We knew the oil would run out, so we saved a portion of the money for the kids." How does paying out an annual dividend represent "saved a portion of the money for the kids?" At least Texas uses their permanent fund proceeds for education......that's for the kids.

Look Koan, We already discussed and debunked your argument before. Texas does have a similar fund that collects the oil and gas revenues for use by the state. However since Texas has over 35 times more people living in it that Alaska and approximately the same about of revenue from oil and gas it doesn't raise nearly as much per capita as your Alaska fund. Never the less, Texas has very low overall taxes, probably due to all of the taxes it gets from its oil and gas.
