Medgar Evar's case was solved 50 years after he was murdered, when most people in town knew who the killer was.

townspeople in iraq and afghanistan didn't tell u s a troops who were planting roadside bombs - although they knew.

pakistanis didn't tell u s a where bin laden was although they knew.

i went to a black church in my home town as a kid. finally, the mayor came - very late. he said we should have had a bigger crowd next time if we wanted him to come again.

he didn't know english too good. he was an immigrant from a group which controlled politically the town.

then charles evers spoke. he was elegant. he apologized for not speaking well as he had been educated in a segregated one room school house with no heat or plumbing.

for decades now the mayor has been black but that immigrant group still (at least as of a decade ago) controls the funds for the schools, although they always went to parochial schools even when they constituted the plurality of the town.

when my son was in elementary school, parents of my son's friend came over to me in the playground. they had heard where i had grown up. they had a country house - the former mayor had the nicest house in the town. they knew he had been mayor of my home town. they knew he must have been a corrupt mayor.

KT,

You are making my point. You are talking about things that happened 50 years ago.

When was the last lynching?

If there was one in recent years, I'd bet there are at least 5 times as many hate murders in the other direction since then that you and I never even heard about because the media is only interested in sensationalizing the white against black crime and the reverend is picky about what kind of hate he objects to. I bet there are more than 5 times as many unsolved black against white hate murders in this country than the other way around.

A lot of the people that are whining and calling for heads to roll about this (including athletes, entertainers, etc..) weren't even alive when the worst of that kind of stuff was going down, but they are just as hate filled and biased as if they were and experienced it themselves.

I've been reading tweets from professional athletes and entertainers that are blowing my mind.

Ignorance, bias, hate etc.. don't do them justice.

Not a single one of them was waiting for the facts before forming an opinion and they are all too damn hate filled and moronic to even understand how F'd up in the head they are.

I have no real opinion yet other than this was not a hate crime. I believe the police had ample reason to release him based on the evidence to date. If it turns out there is enough evidence to put him on trial for manslaughter it should definitely be done ASAP, but the death threats, calls for immediate prosecution, immediate justice, forced resignations, etc.. from idiots that have no clue what actually happened and scumbags that are trying to cause trouble says some bad things about a percentage of our country.
