Zimmerman sought to detain Trayvon who resisted being detained. There was a scuffle and Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon. The phone records of the girl friend will show the exact time the confrontation started. The phone records of the neighbor will show the exact time of the fatal shot. We will then know how much time elapsed between the start of the confrontation and the fatal shot. Probably not time enough for Zimmerman to walk way and be confronted again by Trayvon.
