RE: have a broader public discussion. Why? Simply because our arguments are stronger.

Presenting conservative or libertarian ideas and economic facts to liberal/progressives is like trying to have a discussion with a 5 year old. They don't like what economic history shows them about the failures of socialism and immediately change topics when presented with facts. I have given up. The current ACA Supreme Court case and Kagan's beliefs about a free lunch show you how impossible it is.

I had lunch with two friends today one of which I haven't seen in a long time. She is one of those people I'd call very liberal. During our conversation she asked what I'd been doing with my time. I started telling her all about by role as a co-coordinator of my local TP group and my research on Agenda 21. 30 seconds in she abruptly interrupted me and asked the other lady that was with us a question. She obviously couldn't care less what I am doing with my time because it includes something she hates. She hates the TP because they represent everything she fears. IMO the true lack of concern or interest is usually what gets in the way of a good conversation.
