The use of it that can be both positive and negative is when if becomes your "friend." It can be that perfect spouse you always dreamed off, without the mess of the sex. You can withdraw from the world and just talk to it.

I could not transition between the keyboard and speech to text, but I wouldn't mind having a TV that would obey me instead of looking for the damn remote all the time. It's usually in the crack between cushions on the couch, where my wife left it.

Speech technology is advancing both ways in "speech to text" and "text to speech."
