They do not aid the family of Trayvon Martin, the cause of blacks, or humanity. Nor do they honor the memory of Trayvon Martin. The circumstance of the tragic death of Martin has lead to a torrent of hatred, from blacks and whites, to be directed at the Zimmerman family. There is a very real chance someone could turn to vigilante justice. A group calling itself the New Black Panthers offered a reward for the capture of Zimmerman and reportedly his life has been threatened. Lee and Barr: Irresponsible In the midst of all this Lee and Barr have each made irresponsible attempts to provide the address of Zimmerman's family. Lee showed he's no better at tweeting than making compelling films - he simply took the word of a stranger and tweeted what he thought was Zimmerman's address; turned out it was the wrong one. He caused great distress to an elderly couple who had to flee their own home. They have settled with Lee for their ordeal for an undisclosed amount. Barr, meanwhile, showed she's as simple-minded as the characters she plays but that she lacks their humanity after putting the lives of the Zimmerman family in real danger by tweeting their correct address. She took it down but the damage had been done. Truth will decide Zimmerman's fate The truth will set us free and finding out what really happened is a precursor to action. That is the role of Florida State Attorney, Angela Corey, who heads an investigation into the events of that night, an investigation that seeks to discover, among other things, if George Zimmerman's nose was broken in a fight that night, whose voice is on the tapes and what witnesses saw. Operating without that information leaves us conjecturing on the side of wherever our prejudices lie. Is it possible Zimmerman continued to follow Trayvon Martin after telling the 911 operator that he would not, then initiated the fight and, without his life being threatened, shot Martin in cold blood? It is. Is it possible Trayvon Martin decided to attack the guy who followed him and started beating him and, when he saw the gun, told Zimmerman he would kill him and then tried to take it? It is. We know Martin died, but there's nothing to prove under what circumstances, under which of the above scenarios, his death occurred. If Zimmerman is a racist and cold-blooded killer the law will find out and do honor to the memory of Trayvon Martin in a way the vigilante justice of Spike Lee and Roseanne Barr never could. And if George Zimmerman was in fact defending himself, then doing harm to him, and his family, becomes more than just regrettable. Lee and Barr are too full of hate and prejudice to wait for facts. The rest of us should not be.
