That CO was really a hazard in Korea, back in the day .. when they had the heating systems that sent the heat from charcoal bricks through openings under the concrete floor, then out a chimney on the other side. The floors would crack, and let the gas leak through into the living areas of the homes. I had a buddy who dang near died from it, and I stayed in a little country hotel once, and just happened to have to get up and take a leak in the night, and had one terrible headache from that gas. Slept very little the rest of the night, with a window half open to ventilate the room.

Those old warm floors felt great (slept on a mat on the floor, of course), but they were killers. We heard regularly about locals dieing from it.
