Thanks for the heads up, William.

Re: KM

I'm curious if J. Chen of the University of Minnesota has joined the KM team. He completed his MSEE in September 1997. His thesis was about "Keepered Media and Thermal Decay," and his thesis advisor was Dr. Jack Judy. My thinking is that even if he doesn't work at AXC, he benefits the KM cause down the road because he would be familiar with the tech wherever he chooses to work in magnetics.

Note that Tom Coughlin got his MSEE in 1980.

Re: Stealth Patent Infringement

I recall that somebody posted a conversation with Karen in which she described how difficult it is to get infringers to 1) admit the infringement; 2) agree to settle the infringement when proved, and; 3) collect the settlement royalties. Also, I remember that she said they can only get their existing and new licensees to agree on a narrow area of infringement and they literally have to take apart working products to identify other areas of infringement which explains the erratic stream of one-time settlements. Innocent until proven guilty seems to be the tack being taken by even the long-time Ampex licensees.
