When you say stuff like that, which you know is not true, I hope you know it, you lose a little of your validity as a human being. Do you know that? It is a terrible way to live ones life.

Cut this crap out Koan. Please don't go all moralistic on me.

Yes, I believe if you work for the government and your future employment and raises depend upon increases in the government funding then you are going to be supportive of people, philosophies and organizations that want to continue to fund and increase the funding of your organization.

So for example, if you work for NOAA you are much morely likely to be a "liberal" and a Democrat. You are likely to have bought in to the whole government programs are the solution philosophy, and your job might be threaten if those "evil" Republican reduce the size of your agency. And at your job at NOAA, everyone else that you work with feels exactly the same way.

Likewise if you were to survey a bunch of military officers about the level of military spending you would find relatively few of them that would say that we should cut military spending.

Koan, If I told you that 80% of the "military experts" in this country said that we should increase military spending would that convince you to increase the military budget? It wouldn't because you know that these "military experts" would intrinsically favor increases because it helps their chosen field of employment. And if these "military experts" also believed that Republicans would increase military funding and Democrats reduce military funding then these "military experts" would be much more likely to self-identify as Republicans.

In my response I told you that you should limit your survey to engineers and scientists that do not have an obvious conflict of interest. Report those numbers and you find that they are more like the rest of the American population.
