There is just something not adding up here.

If the investigation indicates Zimmerman's testimony is corroborated by all physical evidence, is consistent with the time line and distances traveled , is backed up by witnesses and that Zimmerman passed multiple lie detector tests..........what will you say then? I would expect nothing less than all those things from the investigation in order to settle the issue. Will have to wait and see. If this investigation railroads this guy.......our justice system is finished.

then sets out to follow him with a weapon

It's not like he drew the gun cop style and started after him - he was simply watching him while carrying concealed for protection. You carry concealed into the grocery store or Burger King - you don't set out into the store armed. You paint a scenario that just wasn't the case like NBC would.

the guy he was following ends up dead

The guy ended up dead because he assaulted Zimmerman and it was a damn good thing Zimmerman was armed or he may very well be dead. Again he did not follow him - but was trying to keep an eye on him to tell the police where he was.

and killer apparently isn't even a suspect.

Because there's no crime - a violent assault (the crime) was stopped by a legally armed citizen.

Hurray for the good guys!!!

I think he was a suspect. He was handcuffed after being treated by EMT's, taken into the station, and questioned by police for five hours before being released. Apparently his story (probably retold many times) must have been consistent with all the physical and other evidence.
