"Science says almost nothing about ethics and meta-physics. It can't address the existence of God, beyond saying that there is no scientific evidence for this existence. It can't prove or disprove the existence of souls, heaven, sin, hell, etc. It doesn't cover such things. Those who argue its supports them (and I've seen such arguments on SI) are just as wrong as those who argue it refutes them."

Thank you. You are agreeing with what I said two posts ago and in hundreds of other posts.

"Beyond that the resurrection of Christ would be central to Christianity"

Also, the deity of Christ, the meaning of his "sacrifice" (being atonement), the promise of salvation through faith and grace, etc.

Now ALL of these depend on the inerrancy of the original scriptures. Even if we admit to minor changes of translation, meaning, context, etc. (as all good Christians will do whenever necessary) it still becomes obvious that the great preponderance of scripture contradicts science. There is hardly a page in either testament that does not contradict science. The entire chapter of Genesis as a case in point. For a start consider the age of the universe and the earth being 9 billion years apart by Science...and the same age in scripture. Christians believe that all scripture is god inspired and reliable. This is THE essential doctrine of Christianity. One can believe the universe and earth are approx. 9 BILLION years apart in age or one can believe they are the same age. One cannot scientifically believe both. Scripture is wrong or Science is wrong. If Scripture is wrong, then the bible is NOT inerrant and all of her essential doctrines have been undermined. ALL OF THEM.

Christians who understand this and who are not afraid of facing facts will often have no fear of attacking Science with all the fervor of the damned.

Science undermines (destroys, actually) the idea of inerrancy which makes all those essential doctrines irrelevant and without doctrinal basis.
