Jim, Re -- Perhaps AMD is shipping them JIT and they are not being placed in Compaq inventory at all. All the more reason for compaq to squeeze the lowest possible price, from AMD. The K6 does not fit into its BTO model, and the volumes do not justify an extra line. The Presario (mediaGX) is a seperate line, but compaq is getting these chips and MB's for real cheap. Either way one looks at it, AMD with its meager production, by giveing it away to Compaq and IBM at cost, is incurring futher losses. MORE LOSSES FOR AMD, if compaq becomes an OEM.
