There's more than one way to skin a cat. Honestly, I don't like intrusive government, but I do like effective government and rigorous regulations. I can get on board with the idea of a US of the World. We do need planet-wide solutions to things like climate change and poverty. However, I think it's far more likely we'll discover a habitable planet in our galaxy that we can move to, rather than the probability that the human race will be able to overcome their petty squabbles to save this planet. We're too un-evolved for that. But boy do we get behind technology. So I'm betting for interplanetary expansion over saving this one. BTW, Stephen Hawking thinks the same way.
