He's having what's called an OATS procedure. They take plugs of healthy cartilage another site and transfer them to the damaged site. Kind of like what they did with plugs Biden's head.

KLP - I second that thought - PT is just as important as the surgeon ...

I'm now 11 weeks out from a rotator cuff/bone spur removal in my shoulder.

I did PT three times a week at the PT facility, and on the off days, did my exercises at home. The doctor tells me I am between a month and 8 weeks ahead of most people in their recovery ..... due to my approach toward my PT. Working as hard as possible at the PT, without doing something to re-injure the affected joint, is definitely the only way to go.
