C'mon folks, we can't let this die so close to post 2000!

Centura may try a marketing pitch based on one of my favourite (not!) sayings - "You won't get fired for buying Microsoft". Centura's pitch will be that "Yes, you could get fired for buying Microsoft." If you choose a tool that winds up causing a project to be late, or worse, not finish at all, your job could be in jeopardy. Centura's argument could be (an argument that I'm quite comfortable with, BTW) that VB, PB and Delphi may fit that discription in many ways. So... buying a cheaper tool, or a tool from a vendor that owns the software world, may not have the comfort level you thought at all. Sort of a Total Cost of Ownership from a software development point of view. The arguement could be taken further by advocating a True Cost of Ownership which would include such thinks as how many nights will you have to stay late to clean up messes if you don't go with the best of breed toolset.

What are your opinions? Do you think a campaign based on ideas such as these will fly?

Of course, whether Centura has the cash to carry this out is a whole 'nother question....
