Skeptic, I suppose my initial problem with your argument was that it had "blame the victim" overtones. However, I do see your point that in the cold world of business, "yous makes yous bet and yous takes yous chances". Bought a building riddled with asbestos a day before the government said that stuff had to go... tough luck, right? OK, here's where the impact on the economy gets murky. Where does all the extra money the Fortune 500 will spend on Y2K fixes come from: a) their software budget, b) their hardware budget, c) a rainy day fund or d) increased costs passed on to consumers? -- "A" implies a stagnation in innovation because of a drain on resources. -- "B" implies a slowdown in the tech sector -- "C" implies a devaluation of stock prices -- "D" implies inflation and a possible recession Lastly, would it be overdramatic to say that the answer to this question might determine the world economic climate for the next few years? - Jeff
