Unfortunately, in many states, you don't have the legal right to stand your ground.

On NPR this week, I heard a caller tell of an incident in OH. A guy invaded the house and attacked him with a hammer and he struck back with a ball bat. He was convicted of assault and the judge told him he had a duty to retreat ... he should have run out another door and tried to run away from the attacker.
