And Obama didn't? You may not realize this, but Health Care was not Obama's big priority until the Clintons forced it on him. His bigger priorities were the wars and energy independence. Then Obama became all about Health Care. Now, Obama has done a lot of things that are tantamount to him selling his soul to keep his power going and grow it even more: * Torture - continued Bush's infamous torture policies ( aclu.org ) * Guantanamo - never had the balls to shut that soul blackening place down * FISA law - continues with laws that allow warrantless surveillance of private citizens with no judicial oversight ( aclu.org ) * Patriot Act - allows an amazing amount of power that literally shreds the Constitution and our Bill of Rights ( scn.org ); ( aclu.org ) * NDAA - new under Obama, this gives him the right to assassinate and indefinitely detain without access to a lawyer any American citizen that he determines to be a threat to national security...no judicial oversight ( aclu.org ); ( aclu.org ) * Threatening the Supreme Court - very recently, taking the unprecedented action of publicly castigating the Supreme Court at his State of the Union speech and then doing it again recently over the Health Care deliberations I have come to the conclusion that Obama, being a former law professor, is not only NOT a defender of the Constitution, he has deliberately taken actions to weaken the Constitution. That is my red line. This guy is looking more and more like Chavez and Castro every day. Those countries had weak institutions that could be circumvented easily and quickly. This country has 200 years of history and precedent and a fiercely independent population to overcome. However, step by step down the slippery slope, Obama is weakening our most critical institutions with his attacks against the Supreme Court and our Constitution, his end run around Congress with his Presidential Directives, and his full throated support of Bernanke's monetary debasement and endless support for mafioso banksters. This is looking more and more like a takeover. I can't believe I've made two monumental mistakes in 12 years, voting for Bush in 2000 and voting for Obama in 2008.
