sounds perfectly pagan to me....

... and i find it interesting that you would equate Jesus Christ with "a Big Spook doing the rounds..."

fwiw .. i was once a sensible child raised in a pagan home with very little exposure to the image of Jesus nailed on a cross but i can tell you that the very little exposure i had to Christianity in my youth never instilled the ominous as you suggest. even as pagans we sang Christian hymns at Christmas and i kinda got the idea from them that for some odd reason ---> God loves the world and that the birth had something to do with God's love.

prior to 18 years of age i think i had ~3 experiences of being in church. the one i most distinctly recall was around age 8 when on an Easter Sunday morning i decided to get up and go to the church that was 2 doors from our house.

i was in a class with several other children and the teacher was talking about the ladies who went to visit the grave where Christ was buried. he asked me if i knew what they found.

i had NO CLUE.

that was the first time i can recall being informed that the gospel story is one of Jesus Christ rising from the dead.

later in life i came to embrace the RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST from the dead and its implications for all mankind as 'THE MESSAGE OF EASTER"

as a follow up to my last post i think that you should understand that even though i do profess faith in GOD through Jesus Christ i also believe that religious people are some of the scariest people on the planet.

dailymail.co.uk

additionally, i would prefer dialogue with an intelligent pagan over an ignorant "christian"...

...prefer the company of an honest atheist over a phony "believer"

....would rather do business with a muslim who pays his bills than a "christian" who doesn't (and if they fly that fishy thing i think twice about doing any business with them)

i think you get my drift.
