I understand that Abe Lincoln became a lawyer after finding a law book at the bottom of a barrel full of rummage he bought to lighten the load of a weary traveler....The story goes that he paid 50 cents for the barrel because he felt sorry for the guy and his horse and didn't find the books until later on.......From all I've read Lincoln was a great advocate to have on your side before the judge despite modern standards that might have disqualified him from today's practice.

Who knows what the standards were 50-60 years ago......but just guessing here by what little we see, it was probably easier than today but a tad harder than in Lincoln's time.
