Indeed they should. GOP is not doing a good job at educating the public. I don't recall seeing anywhere the dollar amounts of the borrowing per person. So, I divided the federal deficit by the about 310 million, which is the number of people living in the US. The number is scary - it is close to $500 per person per month. That's close to $24K annually for an average family of 4. I checked my math - it seems to be OK. And that's not counting the "stimuli".

Such numbers are more meaningful than trying to impress people with stacking dollar bills up to the moon.... Any person can see that not much good will come out of this. Would there be "human costs" during cuts? Yes. But they would be not nearly as bad as during an inevitable economic unraveling, towards which the current course is leading.
